what is hastelloy c22 alloy strip

What Is Hastelloy C22 Alloy Strip?

Hastelloy C22 alloy (UNS N06022) strip is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy materials.

The chief attributes of which are resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, and protection from pitting, crevice attack, and stress corrosion cracking.

Its high chromium content provides much higher resistance to oxidizing media than the family standard C276 alloy strip.

Like other nickel alloys strips, Hastelloy C22 alloy is very ductile, exhibits excellent weldability, and is easily fabricated into industrial parts.

What Are The Characteristics Of Hastelloy C276 Strip?

The characteristics of Hastelloy C276 strips are as follows:

  • It has a good resistance to oxidation and can be used at temperatures up to 677 degrees Celsius.
  • It is resistant to seawater, steam and other corrosive environments.
  • It has excellent properties in stress corrosion cracking tests, which make it suitable for use in marine environment.

How To Produce One Roll Hastelloy C22 Strip?

The production process of Hastelloy C22 strips is as follows:

1.Hot rolling: The slab is heated uniformly to the proper temperature by an electric furnace, then it will be rolled into a strip.

2.Cold rolling: After hot rolling, the steel strip is cooled at room temperature and then rolled into a cold-rolled strip. Cold rolling can improve the strength, hardness and surface finish of the strip.

3.Annealing: Annealing is a heat treatment process used to make metals more ductile and tough by heating them to above the recrystallization temperature, maintaining a certain time, and then cooling below the recrystallization temperature with water or oil.

4.Packing: After annealing, the strips are packaged in small rolls or coils, large rolls or coils and straight bars according to different products to prevent rust during transportation.

How To Choose The Right Hastelloy C22 Strip Supplier From China?

If you want to buy Hastelloy C22 alloy strip for industrial usage, you should know, there are many suppliers and manufacturers produce alloy C22 strip and supply to many industries like heat exchanger or chemical industry.

But in fact, not all the suppliers have the ability to produce good quality products, some of them just choose cheaper materials but with high price which is not a good choice for users.

Here is a quick guide on how to choose a good Hastelloy C22 strip supplier.

  • First, you should ask the manufacturer whether they can do the inspection themselves before delivery. Most of the large manufacturers have their own inspection team, they will strictly inspect all the goods before delivery.
  • Second, you should ask if they use 100% pure raw material to produce your goods, because there are some suppliers use recycled raw material or mixed raw material which may cause problem during using.
  • Third, it is better to visit their factory by yourself and check the production line and warehouse by yourself. It will be great if you can check their production process and production equipment. Because it is very important for you to know how they control the quality from process till delivery.
