Difference Between Hastelloy C22 And C276 Alloy Strip

Hastelloy C276 and C22 alloys strips, both of them are nickel-based alloys, belong to the Hastelloy C series of materials invented by Haynes International in the United States, and have very similar properties.

What is the difference between them?

Let’s keep reading.

what is hastelloy c22 alloy strip

Hastelloy C22 alloy strip is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy materials.

The chief attributes of which are resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, and protection from pitting, crevice attack, and stress corrosion cracking.

Its high chromium content provides much higher resistance to oxidizing media than the family standard C276 alloy strip.

Like other nickel alloys strips, Hastelloy C22 alloy is very ductile, exhibits excellent weldability, and is easily fabricated into industrial parts.

What is Hastelloy C276 Alloy Strip?

what is hastelloy c276 strip

Hastelloy C276 strip is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum super nickel alloy strip with an addition of tungsten designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments.

This alloy is resistant to the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in an as welded condition.

The high chromium content provides the Hastelloy C276 strip good oxidation resistance in continuous service at temperatures up to 1500 Deg F (816 Degree).

Alloy C276 strip has exceptional resistance to a wide variety of chemical environments. Hastelloy C276 strip is used for components that must operate in corrosive conditions, such as chemical processing, waste management, and paper manufacturing systems.
